Downtown Grass Valley Shops

Downtown Grass Valley Shops

Downtown Grass Valley’s annual Open House this year was themed “Holiday Market” to help showcase local businesses.  Seventeen different merchants participated in the event.  I popped in and took photos at Yuba Blue, The Olive Groove, Heart and Home, Caroline’s Coffee, The Book Seller, La Te Da, Tess’ Kitchen Store, Cult of Gemini and The Artist Workshop.

“It was fantastic to work with promoting the downtown merchants in Grass Valley.  We were happy to see town full of visitors all day who were exploring our local shops and areas,” said GVDA Director Marni Marshall.  Special to this year’s event was an appearance of Santa’s elves and a Mr. and Mrs. Claus, just a prelude of getting ready for the holidays.

You can see a full list of Grass Valley shops on the Grass Valley Downtown Association website.  What’s on your local shopping list?  And don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Grass Valley Cornish Christmas, Friday evenings starting November 24th- December 22nd.

My Home!

November 14, 2017

So, I have been fortunate enough to have grown up in a beautiful mountain town. It’s small and you know everyone, but it has it’s perks. I spent my summers camping at the many mountain lakes the area has to offer. My winters were spent at our local ski area.

I often envied people who got to see Mount Shasta for the first time. You see, being born and raised in this area, Mount Shasta was just there. I took it for granted. It wasn’t until I moved away in my early 20’s, that I realized the beauty I was so lucky to have right in front of me.

After starting my family, my husband and I moved back to our home town. Now, I find Mount Shasta to be one of my main subjects when it comes to taking pictures.

Here are some of my favorite Mount Shasta pictures from 2017. I hope you enjoy!

Thriller – Michael Jackson

We had one of the largest, black bears we’ve ever seen come visit last night at 3:30am. With the dog barking it’s head off and our spot lights trained on it, there was nothing we could do to keep it from getting into our garbage. The thing is, now every time we go outside our awareness of our surrounding is at it’s peak. Just being outside, (this is the time of year they “load up” for Winter), is exciting, nervously exciting. And so, without further a due, a little of what we feel – Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”
